The Steeldrivers New braunfels Concert reviews
Yeah Yeah Yeahs soar!
The San Francisco garage band The Oh Sees kicked off the show with excellent energy and quirky fun songs. A fine way to start off the evening. Yacht, a duo from Portland, OR, took the stage next. While the visuals provided some interest, musically they felt a bit underwhelming. Their energy was pleasant, but not quite as memorable as The Oh Sees. The Steeldrivers stage setup was fantastic fun, with blue glitter circles as a backdrop and a giant inflatable eyeball in the middle. Reminiscent of the great SF cult band The Residents. When the lights dimmed for The Steeldrivers, the crowd was screaming with excitement. Karen O, a terrific frontwoman, showcased inventive and fun outfits during the show. Nick Zinner and Brian Chase provided strong guitar and drums music to frame the theatrics, with additional theatrical flair in their movements on stage. An additional musician played keyboards, and the band performed songs from their previous two albums, punctuating the set with selections from their new album, It's Blitz!. The audience and I were captivated by the entire performance, unable to look away from the stage. You know, I'm always thrilled when I see this band live. They put together a show that includes all the elements I desire: Incredible energy, captivating visuals, and unforgettable music that lingers long after the show concludes.
